Sufferin' Till Suffrage is a song sung by Josie McCoy, Valerie Brown, and Veronica Lodge and is originally from ABC's animated musical education show Schoolhouse Rock!

Veronica asks Josie to be her celebrity endorser in her run for student council president. Josie declares she has not forgotten how Veronica stole the Pussycats from her. Veronica informs her that Andy Cohen is a family friend and she can get Josie a spot on his show if she agrees. Josie agrees to endorse her and they perform this song at the campaign rally. Near the end of the performance, Ethel enters with flyers detailing the Lodges' plans.[1]

Lyrics

Josie (Valerie):
Now you have heard
Of Women's Rights
And how we've tried
To reach new heights
If we're "all created equal"
That's us too (Yeah)

Veronica (Valerie):
Well, sure, some men bowed down and called us "Mrs." (Yeah)
Let us hang the wash out and wash the dishes (Ah)

Josie (Valerie:
But when the time rolled around to elect a president
What did they say, sister? (What did they say?)

Josie and Veronica (Valerie):
Oh, we were sufferin' until suffrage (Whoa)
Not a woman here could vote, no matter what age

Josie (Valerie):
Then the 19th Amendment struck down that restrictive rule (Oh yeah)

Veronica (Valerie):
And now we pull down (Oh)
On the lever (Hey)
Cast our ballots (Oh)
And we endeavor to improve our country, state, county, town, and school (What a shame, sister)

Josie and Veronica (Valerie):
Oh, we were sufferin' until suffrage (Whoa)
Not a woman here could vote, no matter what age
Then the 19th Amendment struck down that restrictive rule
(Oh yeah)
