Nicholas Scratch is a recurring character on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He is portrayed by Gavin Leatherwood.
He is a warlock who befriends Sabrina Spellman at the Academy of Unseen Arts under the orders of the Dark Lord.
Character Description
Nicholas Scratch, a young and handsome warlock at the Academy of Unseen Arts who befriends Sabrina when she's a new student. An acolyte of Sabrina’s father’s teachings, Nicholas is drawn to Sabrina — and there are immediate sparks between them.[1]
Early Life
At a young age, Nick was given a werewolf familiar named Amalia. When his family died, she was all he had left. After he began attending the Academy of Unseen Arts, he couldn't bring her with him per the Academy rules. She became jealous and started stalking him.
Throughout Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Part 1
During lunch at the Academy of Unseen Arts, Nicholas sits with Sabrina. Nick tells her that he's been reading her father's journal and says that he thinks Edward was a brilliant person. He offers to walk her to her next class which she accepts. She goes outside the academy and talks to Nick. He reveals that he dated the Weird Sisters. He asks about the Acheron Configuration and she explains the deal she made with Father Blackwood. Nick tells her that this particular configuration belonged to Edward and that Blackwood has been trying to solve it for years. Sabrina asks him to sneak her into the library so that she can read one of her father's journals. Nick says that they'll get caught and be expelled. Sabrina doesn't think she'd be expelled but that her stay would be extended for longer. Nick asks if that's such a bad thing before Sabrina leaves.
Physical Appearance
Nicholas has black hair, brown eyes and olive skin. He seems to prefer to wear dark clothing.
Personality
Nicholas appears as a cool confident warlock with more progressive ideas than most other members of the Church of Night. Like Sabrina, he expressed his opinion that the Feast of Feasts was "bonkers" and was in staunch objection to the barbaric practice. Nicholas showed a laid back and confident demeanour most of the time while occasionally expressing a morose outlook towards the witch community, telling Sabrina that, "Witches are aces at passion and lust but when it comes to love, not so much." Adding that "Our Dark Lord is a jealous lord. He won't allow us to love anyone but him. selfish isn't it?" Expressing envy towards Sabrina and Harvey's ability to "give themselves entirely to one another."
In terms of Nick's romantic and sexual interests, he seems to practice a polyamorous view of relationships. He was in a relationship with all three Weird Sisters at once before ending it due to not being sure what was real or suggested through their mind control magic and engaged in an orgy with Prudence Blackwood and several other witches and warlocks. When he expressed a romantic interest in Sabrina, she reminded him that she had a boyfriend, to which he suggested that she date both of them, further clarifying that he was "down with sharing." Nicholas has expressed an overall kindness and affection for Sabrina and a willingness to assist her with her mortal exploits with no expectation of anything in return. He suggested to Harvey that he forgive Sabrina because she truly loved him, despite having romantic feelings for her himself, showing that he is a true friend and ally to Sabrina.

- Longevity: As a full warlock, Nicholas ages at an especially slower rate than mortals. According to Tati Gabrielle, Nicholas Scratch is 50.[2]

Sabrina Spellman
Sabrina and Nick at lunch
Nick befriends Sabrina rather quickly, even showing a romantic interest in her, but she declines his advances, often reminding him of her mortal boyfriend Harvey Kinkle. Nevertheless, they remain friends. However, when the mining accident occurs, and Agatha and Dorcas talk about the dead miners, he seems keen on knowing if Harvey was one of the unlucky ones, implying he's still enamoured by Sabrina. After Sabrina officially enrols into the Academy of Unseen Arts, she and Nick begin to grow closer as they spend more time together. They eventually become partners in crime, often coming to her aid at her times of need. After starring in a play where Nick and Sabrina shared their first kiss and participating in Lupercalia together, the two eventually started dating. However, their relationship was short-lived after Nick revealed to Sabrina that he had been ordered by the Dark Lord to guide her down the Path of Night. Sabrina would later come to forgive Nick after he sacrifices himself to be Lucifer's prison.
Weird Sisters
Nick used to date Prudence, Agatha and Dorcas in a polyamorous relationship. However, he ended the relationship due to the sisters' mind-controlling abilities, making it impossible for him to determine what was real and what was a suggestion. Despite breaking off their relationship, Nick still remains somewhat cordial with the sisters, even engaging in an orgy with them and Sabrina's cousin Ambrose.
