Melvin participates in the Matching ceremony for Lupercalia, witches' version of Valentine's Day. The warlocks sit in chairs in the lobby, and the witches circle them and are to be paired up with the closest warlock when the music stops. The witches dance with long fabric around a pole. Sabrina tries to pair up with Nick, but Dorcas pushes her out of the way. However, Nick had bribed his friend Melvin into wearing a glamour, trapping Dorcas with Melvin. Sabrina and Nick are jubilant.
Later that night, Melvin attends the Courting ceremony. They will go into the woods and disrobe and anoint themselves under the moonlight, absorbing the potency of Goddess Selene. Ambrose says abstinence is encouraged in anticipation for the powerful release that concludes Lupercalia, but he is not opposed to couples having sex. As Prudence passes out anointment baskets with items inside such oysters and figs, Father Blackwood warns the couples to stay on the path due to the dangerous creatures in the woods. The couples head into the wood, where Dorcas and Melvin have sex.
Then comes the Hunt. The final stage of Lupercalia. Ambrose briefs the witches and warlocks about the Hunt. Melvin, Nick, and the other warlocks stand in a group to Ambrose's left, dressed as wolves, while Sabrina, Prudence, Agatha, Dorcas, and the remaining witches, dressed in red hoods, stand to his right. As part of the Hunt, the witches chase the warlocks through the woods.
Melvin is among the witches from the Church of Night that are captured by witch-hunters. At the desecrated Church, Jerathmiel tells the captive witches and warlocks that the stain of Lucifer blackens their souls. He tells them that God will forgive their sins if they vow to accept Him as their Savior. He adds that their bodies will be consumed and purified by the fire of righteousness. Jerathmiel starts with Elspeth, but she refuses to renounce the Dark Lord. Jerathmiel slits her throat. He then turns his attention to Melvin. As Melvin chants the prayer, his face begins to burn, causing him to collapse and vomit blood. Melvin is unable to continue with the prayer and Jerathmiel prepares to strike him down. Sabrina storms the church and orders them to stop.
Jerathmiel then shoots Sabrina with three arrows, killing her, as she refused to repent. Jerathmiel continues with his prayer, but Melvin chooses to die over pledging allegiance to the "False God." Jerathmiel then slices his throat, causing Dorcas to scream in grief. Jerathmiel is about to burn the Weird Sisters when Sabrina interrupts. Everybody turns to find a reanimated Sabrina levitating in the church. She demands that the witch-hunters convert to Lucifer's faith or die. Sabrina kills the witch-hunters and resurrects Melvin and Elspeth.
Following the destruction of the angelic witch-hunters, Harvey carries an unconscious Sabrina back to the Academy of Unseen Arts. He is followed by Elspeth, Melvin, the Weird Sisters, and the remaining liberated students. Nick asks Harvey what happened. Harvey tells Nick that Sabrina was floating in the air and that her eyes were white. He adds that she did several crazy things and then collapsed as if the light had gone out of her. Nick doesn't understand what Harvey saw until Melvin explains that Sabrina slaughtered two angels while Elspeth mentions that Sabrina also brought them back from the dead. Elspeth likens Sabrina to a God. Sabrina suddenly awakens. She removes the arrows from her chest and proceeds to heal her cousin Ambrose.
Melvin and Elspeth join Sabrina and Nick in the cafeteria. Elspeth asks what Sabrina was talking about and Sabrina replies that she was talking about her father's teachings. A small gathering of witches and warlocks surround Sabrina as she tells them that her father was in the process of reforming the Church of Night before he died. She explains that one of his key tenets was that it was the sacred prerogative for witches to mingle with mortals. Elspeth says that goes against everything that Father Blackwood has taught them. Sabrina responds that Blackwood is taking them down the path of isolation, intolerance, and xenophobia. Sabrina believes that their future and survival depends on the union between witchkind and mortals.
Melvin attends the execution of Ambrose at the desecrated church, which the Church of Night have gathered for. The Infernal Bailiff drags Ambrose before the guillotine and places his head in the block. The executioner lowers the blade but is instead beheaded by a killing spell. Before long, the Dark Lord appears. Lucifer chastises him for degrading the coven with his pettiness and orders Ambrose spared before disappearing. Methuselah declares that Ambrose is reprieved and orders his release.
Elspeth and Melvin later attend a party for witches and mortals at Sabrina's house, where she intended to show the mortals what she is capable of.
Father Blackwood addresses the Academy of Unseen Arts regarding the the Witches' Council turning its back on them. Father Blackwood is willing to shield them and to guide them back to the old ways. The Judas Society unveils a statue of himself and renames the Church of Night to the "Church of Judas". He commands them to look to the Five Facets of Judas for salvation and exaltation.
Melvin enters Father Blackwood's office to inform him that the Dark Lord has returned in his angelic form and awaits his presence at Dorian's Gray Room. Blackwood thinks the blood running from his nose to be a sign. He tells Prudence that the Dark Lord has summoned him and that she must attend him.
Father Blackwood gives an embellished account of his meeting with the Dark Lord and claims that the Dark Lord proclaimed his Church of Judas as the one true Churches of Darkness. The coven hails Satan and tells the coven to take part in an Unholy Communion. The witches and warlocks steps forward to drink the wine, Melvin included. However, the witches would later come to discover that Father Blackwood poisoned them and was abandoning the coven, which had been forsaken. Fortunately, they are rescued by the Spellmans.
Dorcas, Agatha, Melvin, and Elspeth take knee at their bedside as Zelda leads the coven in prayer. Afterward, Zelda confides in Hilda. She’s having difficulty praying to the Dark Lord, who wished for their enslavement. Hilda proposes they tell the coven the truth and pray to Lilith moving forward. However, Zelda can’t bring herself to do it. Besides, they have a more immediate problem with the Council’s arrival. Hilda claims that she has the perfect recipe for them.
Agatha, Dorcas, Melvin, Elspeth, and the remaining members of the coven take a knee at their bedside as Zelda and Hilda announce that they will be praying to Lilith rather than the Dark Lord, alarming the coven.
Zelda holds an assembly for with the coven. Agatha, Dorcas, Melvin, and Elspeth watch on as Zelda recalls how her brother Edward stood on the same spot she is and told his students that there’s no limit to what they can achieve with hard work and dedication. Zelda stands before them with a message of equal hope. With Hilda at her side, Zelda leads the prayer to Lilith. Unbeknownst to them, Lucifer sits in the dungeon just beneath their feet, angered by their abandonment of him. Lucifer opens his mouth as dozens of beetles crawl out and escape through the break in the salt circle.
Agatha, Dorcas, Melvin, and Elspeth are among the dozen witches and warlocks seated as Zelda teaches class. Zelda hears laughter behind her back, but every time she turns around, the class is silent. She looks to the chalkboard to see that someone has written "Lady Blackwood is a bitch." She demands to know the witch or warlock responsible. When no one fesses up, she dismisses the class.
Elspeth leads Melvin to the dungeons, where they proceed to make out, unbeknownst to them, just outside of the Dark Lord’s cell. Elspeth stops suddenly, claiming that something fell on her hair, only to continue making out with Melvin.
As Zelda and Hilda discuss how someone in her class called her a bitch, Melvin enters bloodied and bruised. He claims that Elspeth tried to kill him.
As Zelda teaches a class, Agatha starts laughing hysterically. Zelda demands that she stop. When she doesn’t and even goes as far as calling Zelda a bitch, Zelda slaps Agatha in front of the entire class, forcing Hilda to intervene as Elspeth and Melvin comfort Agatha.
Melvin enters the office and present Zelda and Hilda with a beetle found in Agatha’s hair. Meaning the Dark Lord is certainly near. Hilda then pulls a beetle from Zelda’s hair, concluding that it was actually the Dark Lord who struck Agatha.
Zelda and Hilda inform the coven of the Dark Lord’s presence. They send the young witches and warlocks on a mission to search the academy in groups of twos. Melvin and Elspeth are among them. Zelda warns them against engaging should they find the Dark Lord or sense his presence. And Hilda warns them to rush back to the lobby should the flame on their candle burn blue.
At the Academy, Zelda discusses a leadership opportunity with Prudence. She wants to designate her Prefect of Students. Her duties would be administrative as well as teaching. Melvin interrupts to inform Zelda that Gerald is dead. She suspects it was through the Dark Lord’s influence, but Agatha and Dorcas inform her that Gerald tried to fly, but he fell instead. Prudence then looks over to Elspeth, who appears to have caught a cold. Zelda orders that she be taken to a warm bed. She also says that henceforth, there is to be no unsupervised flying.
Zelda returns to the classroom to find Prudence, Agatha, Dorcas, Melvin, and Elspeth reading "Buxom and the Beast." Elspeth explains that it’s a witchy romance novel written by Hilda, which loosely reflects Hilda’s relationships with Dr. Cerberus, and Zelda’s means to end it.
Sabrina goes to the library in search of Nick. However, she finds Melvin, who tells her that Nick was there researching something after being at Dorian’s. He then asked if the Desecrated Church was empty. Sabrina discovers that Nick was researching auto amputation and realizes that he’s trying to cut off his foot.
The entire coven gathers in the Greendale woods and sings as tradition would require for the Hare Moon. They form an aisle, which Sabrina walks down the middle of while holding the hare. She then walks the hare into the woods to pardon it. There, she crosses paths with a mysterious group wearing strange masks. Sabrina returns to find that Nick has joined them. However, she is being followed by the mysterious group wearing masks.
The Church of Night is confronted by Pagan witches who are looking for somewhere to celebrate their holiday as well; Ostra. Zelda and Hilda invite Pan, Circe, Nagaina and the rest of their coven to join them. Elspeth asks if they should say a prayer of thanks to Lilith, much to Pan’s surprise, who questions why they wouldn’t pray to their Dark Lord. Zelda tells Elspeth that no prayer is necessary. Pan explains that his coven prays to others.
After the pagans leaves, the coven gather to discuss their recent run-in with pagans. Zelda asks Nick what he has to say for himself after killing a snake in front of Nagaina. Ambrose points out that they probably worship snakes. Nick is unapologetic. Zelda informs the coven that pagans are not to be trifled with, especially not while they’re without powers. Hilda suggests sending an offering to make amends. She asks Nick to give them her Moon pie, but he refuses, exclaiming that he’s done enough to protect the coven and storms off. In his place, Zelda asks Dorcas to take the pie. She agrees and Prudence offers to send Melvin and Agatha with her, but Dorcas turns down the security. Prudence sends Agatha nonetheless.
Save for Nick, Agatha, and Dorcas, the coven applies the sacred oil all over their exposed body as the moon peaks. They lay down on the ground and forms a circle as Hilda explains why they honor the Hare Moon. It’s light will shine on them, and they will reclaim their power. Hilda looks to the moon and asks that it bless them with its gifts and energies. They offer their bodies in exchange for their magicks multiplying in the spirit of the Hare. The coven holds hands to seal the circle and their skin glows blue.
The moon suddenly darkens above the Church of Night. Ambrose remarks that an eclipse would be impossible at such a time, leaving Zelda and Hilda to conclude that they’re under attack by the pagans. The moon bath won’t work under the eclipsed moon. Zelda orders Sabrina, Ambrose, Prudence, Melvin, and Elspeth to gather their belongings and return to the Academy, even with that meaning leaving Nick and Prudence’s sisters unprotected and lost in the woods. Zelda explains that once the coven has fortified behind their walls, only then will they plot their counter-attack.
The Church of Night reconvene in the dormitory, where they will sleep together so that everyone is protected. However, they discover that their beds are infested with snakes. Melvin then informs the coven that the pagans are outside. They open the Academy’s doors to find Pan, Nagaina, Circe, and the pagans hidden within the fog. Pan warns them that their time is over and that the old gods are returning, as well as the old ways. He tells them to either bow and pray to their gods or be killed. They have three days to decide. The pagans disappear, leaving behind a crazed Agatha and a petrified Dorcas.
At the Desecrated Church, Melvin and Elspeth contemplate turning Sabrina over to the pagans as it is her fault they don't have their powers. The pagans don’t want moon pies, they want blood sacrifices, Elspeth explains. Melvin and Elspeth are confronted by the Dark Lord, who appears to them as Faustus and instructs them to join the pagans’ ranks.
Melvin and Elspeth forsake the Church of Night and pledge their allegiance to the pagans. Pan, Nagaina, and Circe welcome them with open arms. As his time approaches, the Green Man, the oldest of the gods, will need even more nourishment. And there’s no better sustenance than witches' blood. Pan proceeds to stab Elspeth in the neck, killing her. Melvin retreats into the woods. Pan allows him to leave so that he may warn the coven. Unbeknownst to them, the Dark Lord watches from the woods. He believes that all the sons and daughters of Night deserve death for abandoning him. As do the mortals.
Melvin returns to the Academy to inform the coven that the pagans killed Elspeth. Surrender was never an option. The pagans want to kill the Church of Night for their blood.
Sabrina and Roz take Lizzie and the Ravenettes to the Academy, where Ambrose and Melvin wait to perform the ritual. Prudence arrives in search of Dorcas, but no one has seen her. Sabrina, Ambrose, Prudence, and Melvin begin chanting in Latin as Roz, Lizzie, and the Ravenettes perform their flash mob routine. The ritual goes as planned, leaving the Ravenettes weakened and tired. Faustus arrives through the secret door with the pagans. Sabrina closes the door, and the Church of Night and Ravenettes take each other’s hands and teleport to safety. Roz, Lizzie, and the Ravenettes are teleported to Baxter High.
Sabrina, Ambrose, Prudence, Melvin, and the remaining members of the Church of Night teleport to Pandemonium. Sabrina returns to the Academy to retrieve the effigies that are filled with the energies that Hilda and Zelda need to return to the land of the living. Sabrina returns to Hell to tell Ambrose, Prudence, and Melvin that her father is no longer bonded to Blackwood.
The Church of Night has gathered at Dorian's Gray Room. Zelda awakens with the knowledge of her to repower the coven and defeat the pagans. Zelda then asks about Hilda, who hasn’t resurrected from the Cain Pit. Zelda saw the future, and Hilda lives to be an old crone. Zelda will use what she learned in the next life to drag her back into this life. Zelda returns to the Cain Pit, where she buried Hilda, and with the help of Sabrina, Roz, Pesta, Dezmelda, Gryla, Mambo Marie, Sycorax, Mother Hubbard, and several other witches, call on the triple goddess Hecate. Ambrose, Melvin, Salem, Harvey, Robin, Theo, and Nick watch from the sideline. The wind suddenly stops blowing and Hilda’s hand rises from the dirt.
After digging Hilda up, Sabrina, Zelda, Ambrose, Prudence, Theo, Robin, Nick, Melvin, Roz, and Harvey discuss the pagans and just how they intend to stop them from implanting everyone in town with the Green Man’s seed.
After stopping the Pagans from resurrecting the Green Man, Melvin and the Church of Night run the pagans out of town.
Melvin is of medium height and has light skin brown hair and brown eyes. As a student at the Academy of Unseen Arts, he wears outfits with a preppy style that come in dark colors, and occasionally a bow tie.
Melvin is a young meek and shy warlock, but he can be confident and brave, as seen in his encounters with the Witch-hunters and Faustus Blackwood. After being resurrected by Sabrina Spellman, he starts to admire her and follow her example of living.
