Melody Valentine is a recurring character on The CW's Riverdale. She is portrayed by Asha Bromfield.
Melody was a student at Riverdale High School and a member of the band Josie and the Pussycats. She and Valerie left after learning Josie secretly decided to become a "solo diva." She was mainly seen on the drums during their practices and performances. Melody and Valerie briefly reformed the band with Veronica as the lead singer, taking up the new name "Veronica and the Pussycats."
Seven years after high school, Melody and Valerie remain close friends, to the point where they live together. Melody is in a committed relationship with Nancy Woods and a recently published YA novelist, after dropping out of law school. When Josie, who is now a multi platinum recording artist, returns to Riverdale, the three of them decide to revive the Pussycats and join Josie on tour.
Early Life[]
Melody grew up in Riverdale alongside her closest friends, Josie and Valerie. Together, the three formed Josie and the Pussycats and even won Rockland County's Battle of the Bands.
Throughout Riverdale[]
Physical Appearance[]
Melody is a young woman with dark brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes. She's 5' 4" with a naturally slim figure. Beyond the overt Pussycat ears and the occasional cheetah print clothing, Melody has a very casual wardrobe, typically jeans and a shirt; nothing that would make her stand out in a crowd.
Personality[]
Prior to their breakup, Melody was very loyal to the Pussycats, even in the face of adversity as a woman of color. She is also a loving and caring person, as she was there for Valerie after her breakup with Archie. She appears to be a quiet person and doesn't seem to like confrontation, as she chose to stay out of Valerie and Josie's fight.
Relationships[]
Josie McCoy and Valerie Brown[]
The relationship between Melody Valentine, Josie McCoy, and Valerie Brown began when they were young. The three of them made up the highly ambitious rock band, Josie and the Pussycats. They met and befriended each other while working at Power Records, where they used to practice together. One day, Josie came up with the idea of calling themselves the Pussycats after showing up to practice with cheap cat ears from the Halloween store. Valerie temporarily left the band after Josie and her had a dispute, but they eventually worked it out and found their way back to each other. However, this dispute pales in comparison to the one that followed after Valerie and Melody discovered that Josie was going solo. Seven years after graduation, they reunite with Josie and take the Pussycats on tour.
