Joe Putnam

Joe Putman is a recurring character on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He is portrayed by Adrian Hough.

He is the father of Theo Putnam and the brother of Jesse Putnam.

Physical Appearance[]

Joe is a middle-aged man with light brown hair and dark brown eyes. He works on his family's farm, therefore he often wears overalls and other farm attire.

Personality[]

Joe is kind and loving. He accepts Theo, even if he doesn't fully understand his son's gender identity and all that comes with it due to lack of education about it, but he's determined to be more present and supportive for his son as he was unable to do for his brother. Joe is a single father who, in addition to worrying about his son being bullied at school, also cared for his long-suffering brother, Jesse all while running the family's farm. Joe remembers times when Greendale seemed like a safer place to live in.

Theo is Joe's son, who was assigned female at birth. While they've always been close and had a loving relationship, Theo kept his struggles with gender identity secret from his father for many years, which only further worried Joe as he could tell something was wrong. Eventually, Theo sat him down and reveals that he no longer wanted to be called Susie. Theo always felt more comfortable with himself in boy's clothes. He didn't think that he was a girl at all even though he looks like a girl, have a girl's name, and his dad thought of him as a girl.
