Jason Blossom is a recurring character on The CW's Riverdale. He is portrayed by Trevor Stines.
Jason was the son of Clifford and Penelope Blossom, as well as the twin brother of Cheryl Blossom. He was captain of the school water polo team and a member of the Riverdale Bulldogs. He supposedly died under mysterious circumstances when he fell from a boat into Sweetwater River on July 4th. But as it turns out, he died a week later around July 11th when he was shot by an unknown assailant, who was later revealed to be his own father, Clifford Blossom. He is also the late father of Polly's twins, Juniper and Dagwood.
After his body was found, Jason was buried in the cemetery on the grounds of Thornhill. Prior to the discovery of his body, his parents buried an empty casket. During the third season, the Farm dug up Jason's body in efforts to gain Cheryl's loyalty. Unable to part with him again, she kept his corpse hidden inside Thistlehouse. However in "Chapter Sixty-Six: Tangerine", Cheryl was finally able to let go of Jason and gave him an Viking funeral at Sweetwater River.
Early Life
Jason grew up in Riverdale, alongside his twin sister, Cheryl. Prior to his death, he was in a relationship with Betty Cooper's sister, Polly. According to Betty, he meant the world to her but she meant nothing to him. The relationship ended badly, and Cheryl speculated that Jason was likely the reason that Polly suffered a nervous breakdown and was sent to live in a group home.
When Jason and Cheryl were younger, their mother would take them upstairs into their rooms, where she would tell them bedtime stories about the Sugarman, her very own concocted version of a child's Bogeyman, in an attempt to turn an all-too-real monster into something less. Little did Jason know at the time, the Sugarman was real, and looking to protect them from the danger that followed was their mother, who sent Jason and Cheryl into their rooms whenever he would visit Thornhill.
Over the course of his life in Riverdale, Jason became the captain of every sports team in Riverdale High, working during most summers as a lifeguard at the local country club.[1]

Physical Appearance
Jason was a moderately slim young man of medium stature, around 6' 1", with pale skin, red hair, and steel blue eyes. Ironically, despite his leading position on the Riverdale Bulldogs, he was not an especially muscular individual. He was often seen wearing his blue and gold varsity jacket though. According to Veronica Lodge, Jason was "crazy handsome," and Cheryl agreed, saying that he was the "handsomest."
Personality
As Jason was killed prior to the start of the series, not much information about his personality is known. His personality was deduced through his interactions with other characters. He bullied Jughead at school from time to time. However, according to Cheryl, he was the best brother anyone could've asked for and was a genuinely nice person who didn't deserve to be tortured and murdered. Jason was very protective of his loved ones, especially Cheryl. When they were younger, Cheryl insisted on having separate birthdays from Jason despite the fact that they were twins, until one year, he randomly recommended that they combine their birthdays into one. It was not until years later that Cheryl discovered the reason for this was that no one would come to her birthday. Jason protected her feelings whenever he thought it was needed.
Relationships
Cheryl Blossom

Jason and Cheryl had an unusual, but also nearly unbreakable bond. They were extremely close. Cheryl often describes Jason as her 'soulmate.' Given that they were twins, they'd spent their entire lives together, never separated, and upon Jason's death, Cheryl was left devastated. Jason was very protective of Cheryl and her wellbeing. When they were younger, Cheryl always insisted on having separate birthday parties despite the fact that she and Jason were twins, until one year, he convinced her to combine their birthdays into one. It wasn't until years later that Cheryl discovered that the reason for this was because no one wanted to attend her birthday and Jason didn't want her to be hurt. When Jason learned that Polly was pregnant with his child, they made plans to run away together and enlisted in Cheryl's help to do so. However, he never told her that he was running away with his pregnant girlfriend, only that he wanted to leave and that he didn't want their parents to come looking for him. And so, Cheryl being the loving sister she is helped Jason run away, however, this ultimately resulted in his death at the hands of their father. And still, even in death, Cheryl remained connected to her brother and went as far as bringing his corpse home and having casual conversations with him for weeks.
Polly Cooper

Jason's relationship with Polly was described as passionate and romantic by some and toxic by others, and ultimately, it ended in tragedy after Jason was mysteriously killed and Polly was sent to live in a group home. Initially, Jason was forced to break up with Polly because his parents didn't approve of their relationship, but they became engaged after discovering that Polly was pregnant. According to Cheryl, Jason was kind and loved Polly, however, Betty claimed that while Polly thought of Jason dearly and heavily valued their relationship, Jason, on the other hand, initially didn't take her attraction seriously, further proven when it is revealed that he only started dating Polly to earn points in the football team's "book of conquests." However, it is implied that Jason eventually started to genuinely care about Polly. This is evident in the book of conquests itself, in which other team members dock Jason points for developing feelings for her. Despite all this, he intended to run away with her. It wasn't until after Jason's death that Polly would lean that they're third cousins. Polly has since given birth to their twins, who she named Juniper and Dagwood.
Clifford Blossom
The father-son relationship between Jason and Clifford Blossom is difficult to describe given the events that transpired between the two of them. While little is known of their relationship prior, it is presumed to have been filled with hate and disdain despite the fact that according to Cheryl, Jason was the golden-boy who could do no wrong. Clifford groomed Jason to take over the family maple business. However, Jason didn't share this desire, which led to Jason's demise at Clifford hands. Once Jason learned of Clifford's illegal transportation of heroin to Montreal on the maple trucks, he attempted to run away and start his life over with his then pregnant fiancé, Polly Cooper. Unfortunately for Jason, Clifford learned of his plan to run away and killed him.
Penelope Blossom
The mother-son relationship between Penelope and Jason is mostly shrouded in mystery. It is currently unknown exactly how close they were before his untimely death, but Penelope was devastated to learn of Jason's murder. Notably, Jason was the family heir, who according to Cheryl was the golden-boy. Judging by Penelope reaction to her son's death, she looked looked favorably on him. Although, approaching Jason's death, their relationship seemed to have soured, as Jason was set to leave town, going so far as to fake his own death in order to be rid of his parents.

- In the Archie Comics, Jason Blossom is Cheryl's arrogant twin brother. They make their first appearance in Betty & Veronica #320 in October 1982. The same month, Jason also appears in Jughead #325, in the story titled Barely Friendly.
- In the comics, the Blossoms live in Pembrooke, the rich side of Riverdale and Jason and his rich friends refer to the other side's citizens as "Townies."
- In the 2019 Blossoms 666 comic book, Jason and Cheryl have another twin, Julian. In this series published by Archie Horror, the three of them compete for the title of Anti-Christ.
- In the comics, Jason's love interest is Betty, not Polly, despite Veronica being of closer social status. This often caused him to fight with Archie, who was also in love with Betty.
- Jason was in an independent study program with Geraldine Grundy while at Riverdale High School. She considered him to be inspirational.[2]
- According to Cheryl, Jason always adored the drive-in.
- Jason is older than Cheryl by three minutes.
- Jason has never spoken on-screen and to date, he only did speak in the prequel novel, Riverdale: The Day Before.
- Jason's dummy was created by Sandra Lindala and Emersen Ziffle of Lindala Schminken FX. Throughout Riverdale, the dummy has been modified for script requirements.[3]
- Three faces were sculpted based on the features of Trevor Stines. The first is puffier and has a bullet wound in the forehead and was used in the first season. The second head, used in Season 3, has mouth and eyes sewn shut. The third, used in Season 4, has its mouth and eyes open again and the wound has been closed, ideally sewn by Cheryl.[3]
- Body hair is individually punched and the wig, made of real hair, is glued so that it can be combed.[3]
- The dummy of the first season was heavier for underwater scenes. Subsequently, the weight was removed with a poseability to the body aimed to make it "multi-functional".[3]
