Hot Dog is a sheep dog belonging to the Southside Serpents.
History[]
Guarding Hot Dog is the first trial of the Serpents Initiation, used in the process of becoming an official member of the Southside Serpents. Every member has to take care of Hot Dog at some point. According to Toni, this Hot Dog is actually the Serpents' third pet dog, given the same name "Hot Dog," as the previous before him.
Throughout Riverdale[]
Season 1[]
Hot Dog is brought along by the Serpents when they visit Jughead at his father's trailer at the Sunnyside Trailer Park. They come to offer him membership within the gang -- an offer he accepts. Hot Dog initially barks and growls at Jughead when he answers the door, but calms down after one of the Serpents tells him to stop, explaining that Jughead is family.[1]
Season 2[]
When Jughead decides that he wants to be a full-fledged member of the Southside Serpents, he is told he has to pass the initiation. The first task is to look after Hot Dog.[2]
Season 3[]
Fangs Fogarty informs Serpents during Cheryl Blossom's End-of-Summer party that the Ghoulies have kidnapped Hot Dog. They, lead by Jughead, go to rescue Hot Dog. His attempt is at first challenged by the Ghoulies, Malachai and Penny Peabody, but they are stopped when Cheryl injures Malachai with an arrow, allowing Jughead, Hot Dog and the Serpents to leave.[3]
Season 7[]
Hot Dog now lives with Jughead in a train car. He is seen jumping on Jughead's bed in the morning to wake him up for school.[4]
