The Green Man is considered the oldest of the pagan gods. Worshiped for centuries before the rise of the satanic witches, a fringe group of pagans tried to awaken him after the Dark Lord was dethroned.

Throughout Chilling Adventures of Sabrina[]

Part 3[]

A coven of pagans arrive in Greendale under the rouse of a travelling carnival intent on resurrecting the Green Man. They identify Harvey Kinkle, Theo Putnam, and Mary Wardwell as potential sacrifices as all three are virgins.[2]

When the Green Man's head scrapes the sky and the ripe fruit falls from his arms, the Green Man would restrict. However, the ultimate resurrection couldn't happen without a virgin sacrifice. [3]

It is said that "All flesh fails when he flowers." First, the locals are "seeded." They're implanted with a spore, something they eat that can grow inside them. In this case, it was the caramel apples at the carnival that the pagans were going to give away. And then, when the Green Man was ripe with the blood of a local virgin, then he's bloom. Shortly followed by the pollination.[4]

Originally, prior to Sabrina Spellman altering the timeline, Harvey was sacrificed to the Green Man. This resulted in his resurrection and the pagans' subsequent rise into power. However, in the new timeline, Pesta, a hedge witch, desiccates the Green Man after using a glamour to pose as Mary Wardwell.[5]

Powers and Abilities[]

The full range of the Green Man's powers remain unknown, however, after being awoken by the sacrifice of a virgin, the Green Man allowed the Pagans to take over the world and cover it in plants by blooming its flowers and "pollinating" all people who had consumed his seeds.

With the Green Man backing them, the Pagans were able to push back Caliban and his invasion from Hell.
