Raided by the FBI[]
Jughead and Charles arrive at the Blue Velvet Video store. They ask David to take a look at his records and if he’s heard anything in relation to the videotapes circulating around town. While looking through their records, Charles comes across Ethel Muggs’ name. She rented Friday the 13th 16 times. David explains that Ethel is one of his regulars.
The store is later raided by the FBI, with Charles and Jughead leading the charge. They take a particular interest in the Scarlet Suite, a secret place in the back of the Blue Velvet video store. There, Jughead discovers a snuff film of Clifford Blossom killing his son Jason. Consequently, David is arrested. After being released, he informs Holden Honey that the Scarlet Suite is closed after the FBI raided him, and his contraband has been confiscated.[1]
Season 5[]
Attacked by the Auteur?[]
David is picked up by the FBI for questioning in relation to the Auteur and some Blue Velvet Video tickets confiscated at a crime scene. David claims that he’s never seen those ticket stubs and that he has no involvement to the Auteur.
After being released, David is approached at the video store by Betty and Kevin with snuff film she and Jughead created. However, after viewing the film for only a few seconds, he determines that the snuff is a fake. Betty has come with a backup film that she insists is the real deal. It’s the home video of her father being groomed by his mother to become the Black Hood. David is overwhelmed and asks for her permission to screen the tape to an audience. Betty agrees to allow him to screen the video at his upcoming rave so long as she’s invited.
Later that night, David meets Betty at the front door of the rave and tells her that her father’s film is playing in room 317.[2]
Death by Hanging[]
David is found hanging by Betty, Jughead, and Charles in the Lodge cabin wearing an owl mask with a note around his neck that reads: "God is watching." Charles surmises that David was tying up loose ends by first killing Bret and then himself. Betty questions if David was even suicidal. She remarks that it all rather feels too neat. In actuality, David was killed by Charles, who himself is a sadistic serial killer.[3]
