Mr. Cabot is a recurring character on The CW's Katy Keene. He is portrayed by Peter Francis James.

He is Alex's father and Xandra's stepfather, as well as the owner of Cabot Entertainment.

Early Life[]

In high school, his son Alexander dated Alexandra which led to Mr. Cabot meeting Xandra's mother. Eventually, they got married and Alex and Xandra became step siblings.

Financing Josie's EP[]

Mr. Cabot agrees to meet Josie at his private club. Josie complements his place. Alexander brags about how amazing of an artist Josie is and asks her to play "His Eyes on the Sparrow." As Josie’s plays the piano and sings, Alexandra interrupts and sings over Josie.

Mr. Cabot, Alexander, Alexandra, and Josie discuss the possible resurrection of Cabot Records. Alexandra doesn’t think they should reboot the label until they find a household name. However, Mr. Cabot isn’t interested in her opinion. Alexander tries to get her to leave, reminding her that she’s been tasked with convincing Guy LaMontagne to sell from them exclusively. However, Alexandra has already scheduled a meeting with Guy at Studio 34. Hoping to push Josie away, Alexandra informs Josie how she and Alexander were high school sweethearts. It’s how their parents met and got married, making Alex and Xandra step siblings. Josie is tired of putting up with the Cabot’s dysfunction. She storms out and tells Alexander not to follow her.

Mr. Cabot agrees to fund Josie's first EP

The following day, he arranges another meeting with just Josie. Mr. Cabot addresses the performance Josie gave the night prior. He then goes on to say that he has no intentions on rebooting Cabot Records. At least not yet. But Josie’s talent is undeniable. However, talent alone isn’t enough. What people really like is fire, and Josie made a fiery exit when she stormed off last night. He gives Josie the chance to prove herself. He’s willing to fund her first EP in exchange for keeping Alex on the straight and narrow. Mr. Cabot noticed that Alex excels when he’s dating a woman of strong moral character, and he can tell that Alex listens to Josie. While they admittedly had a relationship, Josie explains that she and Alex decided to keep their relationship professional. However, Mr. Cabot trusts that she can make it work.[1]

Mr. Cabot arrives at Chubby's Record Shop for Josie's listening party. A drunk Alex arrives and confronts Josie after learning that Mr. Cabot only agreed to fund her EP if she babysat Alex. Chubby welcomes Josie to the stage. Josie and Chubby then proceed to sing in front of the entire party. As they perform, Sierra approaches Mr. Cabot and threatens to have his business investigated should he hurt Josie in any way. "No empire’s been built without at least one rusty nail, Mr. Cabot. Just ask Hiram Lodge.", Sierra says.[2]

Josie, Alex, and Raj arrive at Chubby's Record Shop to find that Mr. Cabot has already hired two girls to fill the spots, Priscilla and Corinne. He claims they’re good singers with the help of some auto tune. They’re actually models from the Caboture fashion label. Josie asks to talk Alex in private to express her displeasure with Mr. Cabot's choices in band partners. Alex claims that his father knows what he is doing and tells Josie to give him a chance. Before leaving, Mr. Cabot informs them that they’ll have their first recording session on Friday. He refers to them as the Supremes for the next generation.

Mr. Cabot interrupts rehearsal and asks what happened to Priscilla and Corinne. Josie’s went out and found two new band mates, Trula and Cricket. Josie assures Mr. Cabot that she, Trula, and Cricket sound better together, though he’s not interested in what Josie has to say. Nevertheless, Josie refuses to get rid of Trula and Cricket. When Mr. Cabot threatens to pull funding, Josie tells him to keep his money as she’d rather start over and stay true to herself than compromise the integrity of her band.

Alex tells his father that he doesn't need him

After Josie, Trula, and Cricket leave the room, Raj records through the glass as Alex attempts to explain to his father that he should trust Josie’s vision. However, Mr. Cabot isn’t impressed with Josie’s version of the Pussycats. Alex questions why he even cares. Mr. Cabot explains that it’s not Josie’s he’s concerned about. It’s Alex. All he’s ever wanted is for Alex to succeed. The last time Alex tried it on his own, he ended up in a rehab facility for 90 days. Mr. Cabot advises Alex to find a new project, but Alex refuses to leave Josie. Mr. Cabot reminds Alex that he gave him everything he has and that he can take it all away.[3]

Mr. Cabot agrees to help Alex

Mr. Cabot agrees to meet with Alex after receiving a call. He asks Alex how he’s fairing in the real world and if he’s made any money yet. Alex reveals that he made a bad investment and is in need of help. After learning the trouble that Alex got himself in, Mr. Cabot plots to take over the Pepper Plant.[4]

Mrs. Lacy calls for a meeting. She explains that Lacy's will be closing at the end of the month, as they are being bought out by Caboture. Mr. Cabot informs the girls that Caboture will offer personal shopping positions through their web portal.[5]

Physical Appearance[]

Mr. Cabot is a middle-aged man with white hair and a medium build. Mr. Cabot always wears dark suits with ties of contrasting colors.

Personality[]

Mr. Cabot is a man with a dry managerial mindset and a business flair. He has a high opinion of himself and treats the people who work with him with superiority and as if they're just a commodity. Mr. Cabot also has a bossy attitude with his children, undermining their confidence in their own skills and dreams.

Mr. Cabot threatens Alex

The father-son relationship with Alexander is hostile and cold. Mr. Cabot would like his son to be his heir in managing Cabot Entertainment, but in his eyes, Alex is a constant disappointment and lacks the right motivations. When Alex stood against his father, Mr. Cabot threatened to take away his trust fund. He sees Alex as incompetent and a failure, incapable of making it on his own in the world. It's this need to prove his father wrong that drives Alex to be a successful businessman.

Alexandra Cabot[]

Mr. Cabot has a distant relationship with his stepdaughter, Xandra. While she would like to break into the world of music, Mr. Cabot has no confidence in the girl's potential and continually undermines her self-esteem.

Josie McCoy[]

Alex, Mr. Cabot, and Josie

The working relationship with Josie McCoy is based entirely on the acquisition of the rights on Josie and the Pussycats. In exchange for funding for her EP, Mr. Cabot told Josie that he was having an affair with his son in order to keep him busy and on the right track. Mr. Cabot has leveraged this secret, risking breaking the trust between Josie and Alex. He's more interested in the marketing than the actual message of the band, and doesn't approve of the actual formation of the band.
