There's something dimly familiar about this. But you asked me before if I thought this was murder or suicide. I'm not sure what it is, but whatever it is, it's darker than what happened to Jason Blossom. Or what the Black Hood did. No, what we're looking at here, I believe, is the true face of evil.

Dr. Curdle Jr. and Betty discuss Darryl Doiley's murder

Dr. Curdle Jr. has a strictly professional relationship with Betty Cooper. With the high mortality rate in Riverdale, Betty often looks to him for information regarding deceased individuals. Betty used to go to his father, Dr. Curdle for this information, but after his passing, Dr. Curdle Jr. took over the family business. Their first interaction occurred when Betty and Jughead came looking for answers regarding the deaths of Dilton Doiley and Ben Button, who were poisoned and had runic symbols carved into their backs as some sort of ritualistic sacrifice. Since then, Betty has been a regular visitor for Curdle, though the information he provides often requires compensation, small bills only.
