The old ones pray to their god

Just outside the carnival, Professor Carcosa, better known as Pan, digs a hole as Nagaina, Circe and the remaining carnies gather around him. Nagaina reveals that she can smell the innocence on Harvey. Circe adds that she got the same feeling from Mary Wardwell. Before long, they are joined by Robin, who adds that like the two mentioned before him, Theo is also a virgin. Pan reveals that Roz is a seer and could pose a threat to them. Nagaina offers to tend to the matter of Rosalind. Pan then says that the earth is ready. Nagaina plants a flower, and Pan calls for the blood sacrifice. The carnies bring over an unknown man, and Circe slits his throat, causing him to bleed on the flower. The carnies then proceed to chant as Pan prays to the old gods.[1]

The Phantasmagoria meets the Church of Night

In celebration of Ostara, the pagans go into the Greendale Wood to celebrate. Gathered in a clear and wearing mysterious masks, they cross path with Sabrina, who stumble upon them. There, they encounter the Church of Night. Zelda and Hilda invite Pan, Circe, Nagaina and the rest of their community to join them. Elspeth asks if they should say a prayer of thanks to Lilith, much to Pan’s surprise, who questions why they wouldn’t pray to their Dark Lord. Zelda tells Elspeth that no prayer is necessary. Pan explains that his coven prays to others.

Circe curses Hilda

Hilda makes small talk with Circe, sharing her hobbies and personal enjoyment such as knitting. Circe refers to Hilda as a weaver. A weaver is someone who weaves fabrics and stories. Hilda notices a spider crawling on her and picks it up. Circe begs her not to kill it. Hilda explains that she would never. She keeps spiders as pets, much to Circe’s disapproval. Hilda claims they’re happy, but Circe insists they’re not and tells Hilda that she could never know what a spider feels before grabbing Hilda’s hand and performing a chant. Pan then interrupts and asks to speak with Circe privately.

Circe, Pan, and Nagaina discuss their findings. Circe refers to them as heathens who enslave animals as pets. Pan corrects her in saying that the animals are kept as familiars. He explains that they’ve stumbled upon a group of Satanic witches, but something is wrong with them. Nagaina explains that they’re weak. She can smell it.

After Dorcas is bitten by a snake and Nick returns with the snake after cutting it in half, Nagaina is enraged and the pagans decide to take their people and leave. Zelda agrees, stating that they were there first. Pan retorts that the pagans were there first, before the false god. Before the Dark Lord, the old gods reigned, and the pagans worshiped them. Now, something has happened and their time has come around again.

Pan, Nagaina, Circe and the pagans plot to take away the witches' Hare Moon. Pan cuts into the cake, and Circe prays to Selene, goddess of the moon, as the coven eats the moon pie, simultaneously consuming the moon.

The pagans track the Church of Night to the Academy of Unseen Arts, where they perform a spell to infest the academy with snakes. Pan warns them that their time is over and that the old gods are returning, as well as the old ways. He tells them to either bow and pray to their gods or be killed. They have three days to decide. The pagans disappear, leaving behind a crazed Agatha and a petrified Dorcas.[2]

As his time approaches, the Green Man, the oldest of the gods, will need even more nourishment. And there’s no better sustenance than witches' blood. Pan proceeds to stab Elspeth in the neck, killing her. Melvin retreats into the woods. Pan allows him to leave so that he may warn the coven.

Circe gets forced to reverse most of the damage that the pagans caused

While distracted by Salem, Sabrina sneaks inside Circe's tent to grab her and teleport her back to the Academy, where she is bound in chains and held at gunpoint. Sabrina demands that she return Roz and Dorcas back to flesh. If she refuses, they’ll just cut off her hands. Circe submits and turns Roz and Dorcas back to flesh. Robin then tells Circe to turn Billy, Carl, Martin, and Eric back into humans. Circe informs Robin that Pan and Nagaina will kill him for betraying them. As the boys are turned back into humans, Prudence compels them and leads them out of the Academy.[4]

Circe and the pagans sacrifice Harvey to the Green man

They are taken to the carnival by the pagans, who kill Nick and Robin, and entrap Harvey inside the Green Man as his virgin sacrifice. Pan, Nagaina, and Circe remove the hoods from Roz and Theo so they can watch. Theo and Roz scream helplessly with their hands bound and mouths gagged. Harvey pleads out for help, but his prayers go unanswered. Harvey is killed as the vines of the Green Man stab into his chest. And with that, the pollination begins. Roz and Theo scream for Sabrina to come and save them, unaware that she is encased in stone.[5]

Final Days in Greendale[]

The Pagans pray to the Green Man

In this new timeline created by Sabrina, Mary is placed inside the Green Man as the pagans are seeded and offer themselves up as sacrifices after none of the townsfolk show up to the carnival. Pan, Nagaina, and Circe lead the chant for the Green Man to rise. The vines and branches tighten around Mary and consume her. However, rather than pollination, the Green Man decays, as it shrivels up and rots. As it turns out, Mary Wardwell is actually Pesta in glamour, and Robin is Sabrina. Before glamouring herself as Mary Wardwell, Sabrina found the real Ms. Wardwell and erased her mind of the Spellmans being witches. Sabrina now warns Pan to take his carnival and leave Greendale. The Church of Night arrives as back up and chase the pagans out of Greendale.

Circe is attacked and killed by Hilda

Hilda finds Circe as she scrambles to collect her belongings. Hilda recalls the day they first met and how Circe referred to her as a weaver. Hilda has created a doll of Circe and uses it to break all the bones in her body as revenge for turning her into a spider, which in turn caused Hilda to attack Dr. Cerberus and a Southside Serpent.[6]

Physical Appearance[]

Circe was a middle-aged woman with dark hair and bright blue eyes. She usually dressed in Gypsy fashion alluding to her role as the fortune teller, she also wore very heavy makeup and false eyelashes.

Personality[]

Circe was an other worldly witch, with a great love for animals. She did not believe in keeping animals as pets, considering it as a form of enslavement. Circe also had no qualms turning others into animals when she felt they deserved it, as shown when she turned Hilda into a spider, and the Baxter High Ravens into pigs.

Powers and Abilities[]

CAOS-Caps-3x06-All-of-them-Witches-106-Circe

Circe restores Roz to flesh

Circe was a pagan witch who specialized in animal transformation. Circe could transform her opponents into any animal she wanted and channeled this power through her hands as seen when she turned several students from Baxter High into pigs. She is also able to revert these spells. Her transformative magic also extends transmutation, which is the ability to transmutate one substance into another or change its properties. She could return petrified people into living, a seen when she restored Roz and Dorcas to flesh after Nagaina turned them into stone. Additionally, her expertise extends to divination, palmistry, and tarot reading. She'd rely on these abilities to obtain information through mystical means and often for commercial gain as a fortune teller. This also encompasses the art of foretelling insight of an individual through the study of their palms. She used it to learn that Mary Wardwell was still virgin. She'd also look to tarot cards to gain insight into future events.
