Archie picking up Hiram's order at Pop's

At Pop's, Jughead observes from the front counter at what is being described as a classic trope of mob movies with Archie being taken under Hiram Lodge's wing in a criminal apprenticeship of sorts. This aforementioned apprenticeship begins with small errands, such as Hiram sending Archie to retrieve his dry cleaning and pick up his order from Pop's. With guests on their way for Veronica's confirmation ceremony, Hiram makes arrangements from his study. As Archie is on his way out after dropping off Hiram's dry cleaning and meal, Hiram tosses him a cash bag and tells him to take it to his father's trailer at Andrews Construction and to afterwards, pick up a pair of loafers that he had resoled at the Shoe Doctor on Main.

Veronica in her confirmation dress

After dropping off the cash bag to his father and picking up Hiram's loafers, Archie returns to the Pembrooke to find Veronica being fitted for a beautiful white dress. She tells Archie that confirmation ceremonies typically happen around the age of twelve or thirteen, but her parents wanted the same monsignor who baptized her, Monsignor Murphy, to confirm her, as well. Luckily, he's a friend of the Lodges. The ceremony is a big deal to her entire family. A lot of them are coming in for it. During the ceremony, Monsignor will ask her to renounce Satan, which, of course, she will. But otherwise, most of what is required of her is done in advance. Like picking a sponsor and performing charitable works. She had asked her Abuelita to sponsor her while also agreeing to volunteer at a soup kitchen, which she hopes Archie will join her for. HIram then enters the room to the sight of Veronica in her ceremonial dress, and is amazed with her beauty. He is just as excited as her for the confirmation. With her being confirmed in front of their family, he is the happiest and proudest father alive.

Jughead and FP telling Sheriff Keller that the Serpents are innocent

At the trailer park, Jughead and FP welcome Sheriff Keller into their trailer and tell him that they didn't have General Pickens' head nor did they know who stole it, which is the same thing they told him the last four times he came by to ask them and their neighbors. With the visits from the Sheriff increasing at an alarming rate, Jughead is beginning to feel as if they are being harassed since there wasn't an ounce of evidence to indicate that the Southside Serpents had any involvement in the taking of General Pickens' head. Though the Sheriff recalls Jughead's rather scathing article about the General's legacy, which promoted the Serpents to protest Pickens Day. Jughead mentions how he's actually writing a new article about how the Sheriff seems to care more about catching a vandal than he did the Black Hood.

Dark Betty chatting with a webcam client

Following her webcam tutorials with Chic, Betty became a full-fledged webcam girl. In her 'Dark Betty' black bob-cut wig and lingerie, she talks dirty over a webcam to local strangers. In this session, her client asks her several questions, ranging from if he looks good to can he undress for her. When he asks if the two of them can meet, Betty replies maybe. Unfortunately, their session is interrupted by her mother knocking at the door. Alice repeatedly knocks on Betty's door to ask her why it is locked and who she is talking to. Having removed her wig, Betty opens her door in her house robe. She claims that she is only taking to Jughead who had questions about their homework.

Jughead and Betty getting suspended from the Blue and Gold

In the student lounge with Archie, Veronica invites Betty, Jughead and Kevin to her confirmation ceremony. Usually, these kinds of events are strictly for the family, but since the event is all about Veronica and they are her chosen family, she managed to pull a few strings and reserve them a pew. They are expected to adhere to a specific dress code, Catholic chic. Dresses for the girls, veils optional. And coats and ties for the boys. Betty and Jughead are then called down to the Principal's office by Mr. Weatherbee who scolds them over Jughead's General Pickens article. There had been a steady stream of outrage since the publishing of the article, most recently, Hiram Lodge's lawyer, Paul Sowerberry. He called to tell them that they were considering taking legal actions against the Blue and Gold on the grounds of defamation of character. Effective immediately, both Betty and Jughead are suspended from the newspaper staff. They are given a day to clean out their personal things.

Betty telling Jughead that she hasn't been with anyone else

In the Blue and Gold offices, Jughead apologizes to Betty for getting her suspended from the newspaper. While he doesn't care if they harass him at home or school, he never wanted her to get caught up in it all. While Sheriff Keller has no proof, he suspects that one or more of the Serpents, probably Jughead, decapitated General Pickens' statue. "And did you?" Betty asks. Even though he didn't, she reasons that he could've done it for the same reason he had written the article, to avenge Thomas Topaz, Toni's grandfather. Betty reveals that she saw Jughead and Toni at Pop's early one morning, in the middle of the Black Hood attacks. They were having breakfast, and to Betty, it seemed like they were more than pals. While it isn't her place to ask, she feels compelled to ask if anything had ever happened between him and Toni. Jughead admits that on the night of the gauntlet, after Betty sent Archie to break up with him, Toni stayed over. She gave Jughead a tattoo and they did some stuff, but they didn't have sex. However, since they are on the topic, Jughead asks if Betty had done anything with anyone. Despite kissing Archie, Betty tells Jughead that she had not been with anyone else.

RD-Caps-2x12-The-Wicked-and-The-Divine-19-Hermione

Hermione with Veronica's gift from the St. Clairs

Veronica returns home to find a present awaiting her. Hermione tells her that it is a confirmation present from the St. Clairs. Veronica questions what would make them think that they have the right to send her a gift after everything that went down between them when they were in town. Hermione explains that it's what families that are in their line of business do. Even when they're at war. They give gifts to show respect Or, in this case, to try and make amends for the events that had transpired. Whatever the gift is, Veronica wants no parts of it, instructing her mother to burn or regift it. As she is leaving, Hermione tells her that Simone St. Clair called to follow up on this gift and that during that call, she said that Archie paid Nick an unfriendly visit. Hermione asks Veronica if this is true. Which it is.

Agent Adams telling Archie to be his eyes and ears at the confirmation

After school, at Pop's, Archie apologizes to Pop Tate for making him double check the bag since it is more to make sure that he got it right because Hiram's special orders can get pretty complicated. Pop Tate tells him not to worry about it since after all, Hiram is the boss. Pop Tate's choice in wording alarms Archie, though before he can further inquire about Pop Tate's statement, he gets a message that calls for his immediate attention. The message is from Agent Adams. Archie enters his garage to find the agent awaiting his arrival. He apparently hasn't heard from Archie in a while which is cause for concern, especially with Veronica's upcoming confirmation. Agent Adams' sources are telling him that Hiram's crime family will be in attendance. Agent Adams needs Archie to act as his eyes and ears though this is a conflict of interest as Archie merely wants to be there in support of Veronica. Unfortunately, Archie will have to be there for him and Veronica.

RD-Caps-2x12-The-Wicked-and-The-Divine-25-Sheriff-Keller

Sheriff Keller evicting the Serpents

Jughead arrives home to find Sheriff Keller posting an eviction notice on his door, as well as everyone else's. Everyone in the trailer park is given a two-week notice to evacuate the premises. Jughead suspects that the evictions are a result of General Pickens' statue being decapitated. Just as before, he assures the Sheriff that they had no hand in the matter. Furthermore, he can't use that as a trumped-up excuse to evict them. Sheriff Keller explains that he is merely the messenger as the order came down from the Mayor's office. Apparently, there is a lot of back rent owed at the trailer park. While they are packing, Sheriff Keller suspects that they might come across General Pickens' head in the process, which may calm the waters a bit and lift some of the pressure.

Sierra and Josie apologizing

The next day, Josie and Sierra stop by the Pembrooke to offer an apology after Pickens Day. Admittedly, Sierra had misgivings about some of the decisions that Hermione and Hiram were making which was wrong and inappropriate. Given the stressful times, neither Veronica nor Hermione held any grudges. In fact, as proof of this, Veronica invites them both to her confirmation. Sierra graciously accepts as this made giving them their gift that much easier. The gift of which she speaks is Josie's offer to sing at Veronica's confirmation. While Veronica already has plans to sing herself, Hermione accepts Josie's offer for her so that they could perform a duet. When Veronica asks Josie if she knows the "Bitter Sweet Symphony" from the Cruel Intentions soundtrack, Josie says that she can learn.

FP talking to the Serpents about the eviction notices

At the Whyte Wyrm, the Serpents gather around as FP gets on stage to announce that in spite of the eviction notices, they aren't going anywhere. The heat has been on them since Pickens Day and they are using Pickens' statue as an excuse to turn it up. But if they are going to fix their current dilemma, FP has to ask if anyone in the bar is responsible for cutting off Pickens' head. Tall Boy recommends asking Jughead what he has to say since he wrote the article that started it all. And he and his posse (Toni, Sweet Pea and Fangs Fogarty) only made it worst by firing the first shot at Pickens Day. Though as Toni points out, it was a peaceful protest. Nonetheless, Tall Boy suspects that maybe they went back with a ladder and hacksaw to take the head. Offended by Tall Boy's accusations, Jughead fires back, though FP manages to keep the tension from boiling over as he steps in between the two of them and reminds them that the last thing they need at the moment is to turn on each other.

Hiram confronting Archie over attacking Nick

In his study, Hiram confronts Archie after hearing that he paid Nick St. Clair a visit and roughed him up. Archie explains that when he found out about what Nick tried to do to Veronica, he became uncontrollably angry. Hiram is impressed with Archie's ability to beat up on Nick despite the fact that he has both of his legs in a cast. He respects that Archie is willing to go to such extremes in order to send a message. And he is relieved that Veronica has someone so fiercely protective of her. With some out of town guests coming in for Veronica's confirmation and a poker game scheduled for the night before at Pop's, Hiram asks Archie to lend a hand. He needs someone he can trust to keep the drinks filled and cigars cut.

Betty returns home to find Ben coming downstairs, from out of Chic's room. He passes right by Betty, telling her that Chic will be on his way down. As Ben exits the house, Betty asks Chic about his job interview. Chic tells her that Ben works concessions at the Bijou and that he thinks he got the job. Betty suspects that Ben is one of Chic's clients, but he states otherwise. Chic would never tell any of his clients where he lived and he advises Betty to do the same. Boundaries are key. They'd keep her alive.

Mayor McCoy telling Jughead to stand down

Jughead confronts Mayor McCoy at the Mayor's office on her witch-hunt of the Serpents who had nothing to do with the beheading. Jughead surmises that she knows this. But in the mean time, she's still tightening the screws and sending Sheriff Keller to sow seeds of unrest by threatening to take their homes away. Since when does she care about the statue of a murderer, Jughead wonders. Mayor McCoy replies that Governor Dooley called and read her the riot act. That statue cost him a lot of money and he is furious. Regardless, Mayor McCoy is supposed to be an ally. So he can't figure out why she's doing what she's doing. Then Jughead realizes that someone is pulling the Mayor's strings. He suspects that Hiram Lodge is the puppet master. Admittedly, Jughead is a bright kid who she's always liked. So the Mayor warns him to back down before he uncovers something that he shouldn't.

Archie and Veronica volunteering at a soup kitchen

At the soup kitchen, where he and Veronica were volunteering to feed those in need, Archie tells Veronica that her father invited him to his poker game to serve drinks, bus tables and cut cigars despite those games being private, consisting only of her father's inner-inner-circle. When Archie asks if there's a reason that he shouldn't go, Veronica pulls him to the side to explain that this floating poker game is a long-standing tradition. It's been happening for decades. It's incredibly high stakes, in every sense of the word. Archie's going to have to be extremely careful around the other players. Veronica just wants to make sure that he doesn't get hurt because while the other players are old friends and relatives, they're old school, much like Hiram. Industry Titans that Archie doesn't want to cross.

Betty and Jughead at Pop's

Betty and Jughead meet up at Pop's, where he asks for her help as she is the only one in town who he can talk to about this specific problem. Ironically, the last time Jughead and the Serpents were in trouble, he pushed Betty away. Jughead tells her about the two week eviction notices at Sunnyside and how Mayor McCoy thinks the Serpents vandalized the statue. To make matters worse, with the trailer park technically being on town property and not everyone having paid their rent, the evictions are perfectly legal. Mayor McCoy is making the entire thing about the beheaded statue when in actuality, it is just a pretense to shut them up and get them out. If the statue is what is fueling the fire, Betty suggests that they take away the gas by finding the head. To do this, they will have to treat it like a missing persons case. Someone, somewhere, saw something. So they could canvas the town with reward flyers for anyone who had information. Find the head, save the trailer park.

Veronica confronting her father about Archie

After leaving the soup kitchen, Veronica confronts her father in his study over inviting Archie to work his Casino Royal. She is worried that he might find out all their family's secrets even though business isn't discussed when the family gathers for such sacred celebrations as a confirmation ceremony. However, knowing her father, he has an agenda. So she demands to know what it is. After hearing about how Archie took initiative with Nick St. Clair, Hiram wanted to see how he'd handle himself in a room of his peers. If their relationship persisted, at some point, they may need to bring Archie in. And while outsiders aren't traditionally brought into the family, Archie might be an exception due to him being more like them than he was initially was given credit for. However, Veronica disagrees. She says that he is nothing like them. And she doesn't want him to be compromised. With that, Veronica is given a choice, either they bring him in, or he stays on the outside, forever.

RD-Caps-2x12-The-Wicked-and-The-Divine-57-Penny

Penny at the Whyte Wyrm

Jughead enters the Whyte Wyrm with reward flyers for General Pickens' head to find that the Snake Charmer has returned. Tall Boy brought her in as they are in dire need of her legal assistance to combat the two week eviction notices at Sunnyside. The Serpents gather around Penny as she tells them how Jughead sliced a chunk out of her arm where her Serpent tattoo used to be and then left her bleeding in a ditch in Greendale. Nonetheless, Penny is still willing to help the Serpents. While the eviction notices that Tall Boy had shown her are legitimate, she can think of a number of ways that will stall the process by years. Her price, however, is blood for blood. An eye for an eye. She not only wants her membership with the Serpents reinstated, but she want Jughead to be kicked out in her place. And for her final demand in exchange for her services, she wants to carve off Jughead's tattoo with a dirty knife.

Jughead vs FP

Jughead waits in the trailer for his father to return with the verdict. When FP does return, he reveals that the Serpents are putting it to a vote, Jughead vs Penny. While she is a cobra, mutilating her is the kind of thing that you don't come back from, FP remarks. Much like stuffing a teenager's body in a freezer, Jughead argues. FP jacks him up against the wall and tells him that he needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut. Tall Boy was right in saying that Jughead brought the Northside down on them. Serpents are losing their dens because of his article. Jughead tells his father not to kid himself given that the Mayor is simply using his article and what happened to the statue of General Pickens as an excuse to justify what they had already been doing. Between cutting up women and bringing the temple down upon them, FP concludes that Jughead will be the death of the Serpents.

Agent Adams asking Archie to wear a wire

Agent Adams arranges a clandestine meeting with Archie in a vacant parking lot, where Archie tells him that under no circumstances will he wear a wire to Hiram Lodge's poker game. With this poker game, all the king pins will be together in one room, Agent Adams explains. The F.B.I. has never managed to get anyone close enough to hear and record what they discuss. While Archie is fine with listening in, he doesn't feel comfortable with wearing a wire. Agent Adams questions if his refusal to wear it stems from the fear that they might capture something to implicate his father or Veronica. Considering that Archie is the one taking the risk, they are going to do the investigation on his terms and without a wire.

She and Betty try to explain to Hal that Chic isn't hurting anyone and that he had found a job at the Bijou. He even offered to pay them rent. So Alice has no idea what was Hal's beef with him is. Hal replies that Chic is a stranger, though Hal isn't even making an effort to get to know him either. However, Hal refuses to change his stance on the matter. Veronica's confession

After sleeping on the ultimatum presented by her father, Veronica gives her confession to Monsignor Murphy at the chapel. It had been some time since her last confession. Veronica starts it with asking for forgiveness as she had sinned. The Bible says gossiping's a sin. If that's true, then she's guilty. Also, she admits to being, on occasion, disrespectful to her parents. But what she's most worried about is that she's doing something terrible to a person she loves i.e. Archie. Not only is she constantly withholding the truth, she fears she's leading him down an unrighteous path. As someone who's known her family for longer than she's been alive, Veronica hopes Monsignor Murphy can understand her concern. And she prays that he can offer some advice. "Ten Hail Marys, five Our Fathers." He says, before ending the confession.

Once home, where all the women get together for girl-talk, Veronica tells her family that her confession with Monsignor didn't offer much piece in mind. Hoping to help, they share their "things" which helped them get through the day and they advise Veronica to find her own. Tia then asks about Archie after seeing him a couple days before. Veronica tells them that he's her boyfriend and that he will be attending the ceremony. Archie is a local boy and he is as Hermione put it, "inocente", which is Spanish for innocent.

King Pin poker game

That night, as planned, Hiram hosts the poker game at Pop's. Notably, he is having quite a lucky streak. During the game, he introduces Archie to his guests. Starting with Lenny Kowalski who runs canned meat out of Chicago. Then there is Carl Martin, of Martin Brewery. Finest beer in the Rust Belt. And lastly Poppa Poutine who owns a chain of hot dog restaurants in Quebec. Which is why no one has ever heard of him, Hiram remarks. Poppa Poutine inquires about the progress of the SoDale, though as Hiram reminds him, there's no talk of business during such times. Poppa Poutine then asks Archie for his name, recognizing Archie's surname, "Andrews". He recalls that Hermione knows someone with that same last name. Hiram explains that Fred Andrews is one of his business associates. Poppa questions whose idea it was to make him a partner. Before he can answer, Pop Tate brings them their orders, though Poppa isn't satisfied with his meal. When Hiram claims ownership of the diner, much to Archie's surprise, and demands that Poppa Poutine apologize for his behavior, Poppa refuses and decides to go outside for some fresh air instead. In the bathroom, while unclogging the toilet, Archie overhears Lenny and Poppa plotting to take out Hiram after Veronica's confirmation.

Veronica's ceremony

On the day of Veronica's confirmation, all her friends and family are in attendance for the event, from her mom and dad to Archie and Betty. She walks down the aisle in her white dress, singing Bitter Sweet Symphony alongside Josie. Upon reaching the altar, Veronica is given a cracker to eat and anointed by Monsignor Murphy. "Do you, Veronica Cecilia Lodge, renounce Satan and all evil works? And do you walk in the light of the Lord?" Before replying that she does, Veronica glances over to her parents with a look of uncertainty. Just behind the two of them is Archie, and in seeing him smiling back at her, Veronica gains all the reassurance she needs to go through with the ceremony.

Afterward, at the post-confirmation party at the Pembrooke, Sierra congratulates Hiram and Hermione on a beautiful service. With the sales finalized, she informs them that they are now the proud owners of what was previously Southside High.

While Betty is off looking for Jughead, Veronica takes Archie to meet her Abuelita who couldn't help but pinch Archie's cheeks given his handsomeness.

Betty and Jughead discussing the Serpents and his mistakes

Betty finds Jughead upstairs, looking over the staircase balcony. She comments that it isn't like him to neglect a free buffet, which concerns her. Jughead tells Betty about the Serpents' meeting to determine whether or not he will be kicked out the gang. He tells her that he broke a code and that in doing so, he messed up badly. Jughead goes on to tell Betty about the Snake Charmer and how she suckered him and his dad into delivery drugs, forcing him and the younger Serpents to find her, grab her and cut her. The worst part is that none of it even matters because she is back. Every decision he had made since they broke up, including their breakup, only made things worse. Betty then gets a call about the flyers they put up regarding the head to General Pickens' statue.

He has nearly ten acres of scrap and he came across weird stuff all the time, but for the first time ever, he found a bronze head stashed in an old refrigerator. Jughead questions who dumped the head at the junkyard, asking Junkyard Steve if anyone suspicious had been around recently. Disregarding the regular scavengers, Junkyard Steve tells them that one guy in particular came by last week. A stranger, claiming that he was in search of bike parts, though he didn't buy anything. According to Junkyard Steve, he was a tall, low-life type, who happened to be wearing a Serpents jacket, leaving Jughead to conclude that it was Tall Boy who decapitated the statue.

They sit Tall Boy down to ask him what he was doing at the dump last week. Tall Boy initially claims to have no knowledge on what they are talking about. Though it isn't long before he confesses. When he asks why Betty, a Northsider, is in the bar given that they are handling Serpent business on Serpent land, Jughead states that she is one of them. Tall Boy then reveals that he stole the head because he was tired of seeing the Serpents go soft under FP's rule. Hiram Lodge came by, wanting to stir up trouble. He told Tall Boy that if he took the head, he'd get Mayor McCoy and the cops to swarm all over them, causing chaos in the process. Tall Boy helped Hiram Lodge start a mutiny because he wanted to get rid of Jughead and FP, leaving the Serpents under the leadership of him and Penny. In doing this, Tall Boy betrayed his own kind and broke Serpent law. His punishment is being stripped of his jacket and exiled.

Betty and Jughead kissing

At the trailer, Betty and Jughead sit on the couch wondering what Hiram Lodge has planned for the Southside. Maybe they can ask Veronica on Monday, Betty suggests. Though, Jughead proposes that they investigate quietly until they know more. They haven't saved the trailer park yet and he is now on probation with the Serpents because of what he did to Penny. But at least they stopped her from coming back and got rid of Tall Boy. Betty remarks how nice it is to hear Jughead speak of the two of them working together again. He'd be apologizing for it for the rest of his life, but he is sorry for feeling like he had to shield Betty from what he was going through with the Serpents or his darkness, since they both knew that she could handle it. Betty then prepares to head home, but Jughead asks that she stay. He places his hand on her leg and she gets on top of him as the two of them start kissing. As Jughead undresses Betty, she tells him that she needs to tell him something. Betty looks Jughead in his eyes and says to him that she wants all of him. The two of them proceed to have sex.

Alice answering the door

It is dinner time at the Cooper house. Chic and Alice sit alone at the table because Betty has not yet made it home. Alice explains to Chic that it is typical behavior of his sister to get caught up in something and drop off the face of the earth. Chic then asks about Hal just as someone knocks at the door. Alice goes to open the door, saying it ia probably him. However, instead of Hal, she opens the door to a lanky, older gentleman with bleached hair, asking for Chic.

Meanwhile, Archie goes back to his house where he meets up with Agent Adams who reveals that Paul Boucher a.k.a Poppa Poutine was found dead in his hotel room less than an hour ago, shot in the back of the head. Given that Boucher was a guest at Veronica's confirmation, Agent Adams asks Archie if he saw or heard anything that would implicate Hiram Lodge in what is obviously a gangland slaying. Despite overhearing Poutine's plan to take action against Hiram and then Archie himself telling Hiram about what he heard, Archie lies to Agent Adams, claiming that he knew nothing.

After the party, Veronica receives one last gift. She opens it to discover the head of General Pickens' statue. Realizing that it is actually for her parents, she calls them over to deal with the head that is wrapped neatly in a box.
