Sabrina and her friends are at the comic book shop discussing movies. Susie tells them that her dad is going out of town for the weekend at the farm expo. Roz suggests that they have a girls' night as she has no desire to lead her parents' church group. Susie is hesitant. Roz tries to get Sabrina to back her up. However, Sabrina lies to her friends and tells them that she too is going to the expo with her Aunt Hilda. She then tells Harvey that whenever she's missing him that she'll hold his necklace close to her heart.
Ambrose watches as Sabrina begins to pack for her three-day stay over at the Academy of Unseen Arts. Sabrina is upset that she had to lie to her friends, but she has to attend her induction. Ambrose tries to console her by telling her about all the new people she's going to meet. Sabrina says that her only agenda is to learn how to conjure, bind, and banish the Dark Lord.
Hilda gives Sabrina some protection charms because she knows how cruel girls can be at the academy. She then suggests that Sabrina take Salem to the Academy, but Zelda retorts that only babies and ninnies take their familiars to school. Zelda tells Sabrina about how her years at the academy were the best of her life. She remembers the books she read and the friendships she cultivated. Zelda also tells Sabrina that she and Edward constantly argued about philosophies. Sabrina counters that she and Edward were on the same page about signing her name in the Book of the Beast. Hilda then offers to take Sabrina to the academy, but Zelda reminds her sister of her excommunication and how it forbids her going within spitting distance of any Church of Night property.
Sabrina is dropped off at the academy. Waiting for her is a little boy named Quentin. He leads her to Father Blackwood's office. He explains how the academy was built according to the principles of sacred geometry. Each room is a perfectly proportioned pentagon that locks with the one next to it. No one knows how many pentagons there are, exactly. Some say an infinite number.
Father Blackwood welcomes Sabrina to the academy and hands Sabrina her schedule, but she isn't happy with what she's been given. Sabrina asks about conjuring and demonology classes but Blackwood says that she must fulfill the academy's general requirements first. So, Father Blackwood takes her to choir class where his wife, Constance Blackwood, is teaching. Lady Blackwood asks Sabrina to sing a few verses for her. After she does, Lady Blackwood comments that Prudence finally has some competition.
At lunch, Sabrina sits at a table with Nicholas Scratch. Nick tells her that he's reading her father's journals, which are kept in the Sanctum, the library for advanced students, though they are considered dangerous text. Nick thinks Edward was brilliant, adding that he was also controversial. Nick reveals that he would like to follow in Edward's footsteps and study Demonology, among other things such as invocation, ritual magic, and necromancy. The Weird Sisters appear, and Sabrina invites them to join their table. Prudence, Agatha, and Dorcas tease Sabrina for having a mortal boyfriend and running from her Dark Baptism. Nick comes to Sabrina's defense and offers to walk Sabrina to her next class, which she accepts.
Meanwhile, at Susie's house, she and Roz are watching Carnival of Souls. Suddenly, a bell rings from somewhere upstairs, and Susie explains that it's her sick uncle calling because he needs something. The two of them head upstairs to check on him. Horrified, Roz asks what happened to him. Susie explains that her Uncle Jesse saw something in the mines and went crazy. Susie asks if Roz will stay with her for the rest of the weekend. Realizing that Susie is frightened, Roz says she will.
Sabrina wakes up in the middle of the night in the Witch's cell after being warned by Quentin not to show "them" that she's scared. The Weird Sisters have put her in there for the Harrowing, a witch tradition. Sabrina has to endure the same punishment as the Greendale Thirteen. Thirteen made it to the noose, but many more perished in the cell. The witches weren't given any water, sunlight, or food. Most of them went mad and cut their own throats and still haunt the academy. Sabrina has to survive the night in the cell. She can hear rustling in the darkness and calls out for help. She then screams as something grabs her leg. The next morning, the Weird Sisters open the door and find Sabrina shaking. She turns around smiling at them. She introduces them to Salem, who snuck into the cell in the middle of the night to protect and comfort her.
Sabrina calls Harvey and tells him that she hates being at the expo but that talking to him is helping. She wants to leave but has to see it through. After getting off the phone with Harvey, Sabrina takes a shower. She returns to her dorm to find that Salem is missing, as well as her clothes. She asks Prudence, Dorcas, and Agatha where they've hidden him and gets into a fight with Prudence. Father Blackwood interrupts the fight and tells Sabrina to come to his office. He is holding a pet kennel revealing that the reason Salem is gone is that he was informed about him.
Zelda and Sabrina have a meeting with Father Blackwood. The High Priest tells Sabina that familiars are not allowed at the academy and that as such Zelda must take Salem home with her. Blackwood also asks Sabrina if she's happy at the academy. Zelda believes she is but Blackwood doubts it as Sabrina has been complaining about her schedule and getting into fights. When Sabrina explains that she's not happy with her classes, Zelda agrees with Sabrina's complaints on the grounds that she's not being challenged. Sabrina tells Zelda that she wanted to study conjuring but Blackwood says that it's too dangerous for her. Zelda suggests that Blackwood test Sabrina. So, he pulls out an Acheron Configuration, which is a test of mental and actual dexterity. Blackwood tells her that if she can solve the puzzle then she can take the classes that she wishes. After she leaves, Blackwood asks Zelda to be his wife's midwife because she's miscarried twice before. Zelda agrees, although she hasn't helped with a child's birth in years.
Sabrina goes outside the academy to speak to Nick. He reveals that he dated the Weird Sisters, though mind control is one of their gifts and he was no longer sure what was real and what was suggestion, so he broke it off. He then asks about the configuration in her hand. Sabrina explains the deal she made with Blackwood. Nick informs Sabrina that this particular configuration belonged to Edward and that Blackwood has been trying to solve it for 20 years. Nick tried for three years himself, but he gave up. The configuration's almost like a kaleidoscope. Its colors and patterns are addictive, and the more someone stares at it, the harder it is to solve. Nick doubts that she can solve it. Sabrina asks him to sneak her into the library so that she can read her father's journals. Nick says that they'll get caught and be expelled. Sabrina doesn't think she'd be expelled but her stay would be extended for longer. Nick asks if that's such a bad thing for Sabrina to become a full-time student.
Roz meets with Harvey at the book shop and tells him about Susie's uncle and how he saw something in the mines that drove him insane.
Ambrose gets a call from Luke, who invites him out on a date. Ambrose then tells Hilda about Luke and how he plans to astral project to meet with him. Ambrose asks for Hilda's help. With her guarding his body, he'll be safe. Hilda warns Ambrose that only the dead are allowed to travel the astral plane. If he spends too much time out there, the psychopomps will find him. They'll assume that he's dead and carry him off to the hereafter, or they will tattle to the Dweller in the Abyss. Psychopomps may look like sweet little sparrows, but they are in fact vicious, spiteful, and hateful creatures. So initially, Hilda says no. But after Zelda reminds Hilda of her excommunication yet again before leaving to go have dinner with the high priest, Hilda decides to help Ambrose.
Prudence enters the office with Stolas, who was spying on them in the girls shower. Father Blackwood tells her that he will take care of the bird. After Prudence is out of earshot, he asks Madam Satan if he should kill the raven or if she will remove it herself. Madam Satan replies that Stolas doesn’t like being in a cage and that Sabrina is under her protection. that while Sabrina is away at the academy, Father Blackwood encourages Madam Satan to use this time to have some fun with her friends and family.
Hilda places candles around Ambrose while he lays atop a surgical table. Ambrose is given 20 minutes to astral project. She is watching over his body when the doorbell rings. It's Ms. Wardwell and she's come to make some funeral arrangements. Hilda puts her in the waiting room while she goes back downstairs. Meanwhile, Ms. Wardwell explores the Spellman house and casts spells on the mirrors and steals specific items from Spellmans, such as their hair and fabric.
Luke meets Ambrose at Cerberus Books. Ambrose then notices a psychopomp in the window. Hilda notices one from the mortuary as well. Ambrose reveals to Luke that the police are still looking for Connor’s killer, but Luke isn’t interested in Connor. He asks Ambrose what’s the craziest thing he’s ever done. Ambrose reveals he was arrested for attempting to blow up the Vatican.
Zelda arrives home just in time to escort Ms. Wardwell out of the house. Zelda then heads into the basement and discovers that Ambrose is astral projecting. Zelda kicks over the candles and Ambrose returns to his body. Zelda reprimands him for astral projecting as he's been bound to the house.
Prudence, Dorcas, and Agatha pull Sabrina from her bed and lead her down the same path as the Greendale Thirteen, who'd survived torture and imprisonment, walked to the noose. They kept their eyes straight ahead, fixed on the path. Mortals surrounded them on either side, and if any witch lifted their eyes to meet a human's gaze, they were stoned to death on the spot. The four girls arrive in a field, under a tree. Sabrina is to do what the original 13 did. She must stand in cold night without shoes or rest. Prudence warns her from turning around no matter the noises she hears. She must remain facing the tree until dawn. Harvey suddenly calls out to Sabrina and begs her to turn around, but she realize it's a trick and remains still. Sabrina's parents then call out to her and ask to see her face, but Sabrina does not give in to the demon's tricks.
In the morning, Quentin is there to escort her back to the academy. Sabrina tells him that the woods aren't safe for him. Quentin shows her his gravestone and tells her that there is nothing out there that can hurt him anymore as he is a ghost and a victim of the Harrowing. There used to be a groundskeeper who would bury them, but he died many years ago. Quentin then introduces Sabrina to the other kids who died from the Harrowing. Sabrina returns to the academy and tells her aunts how students are being harrowed to death by other students.
Zelda and Hilda meets with Father Blackwood to confront him over the claims that children are being harrowed to death. He reminds Zelda how she once participated in the Harrowing and says that he'll look into it. After meeting with Blackwood, Zelda has Sabrina take them to the children. Zelda asks Quentin what they want. Hilda believes she knows what they want. They want permission to do something about what happened to them, and Hilda gives them just that.
Harvey goes over to Susie's with Roz. Harvey asks Susie why he didn't talk about his uncle, to which Susie replies that her father forbade her from mentioning it and because Harvey's father owns the mines that made him sick. Harvey goes up to talk to Jesse as he wants to know what he saw. Harvey’s been in the mines as well and wonders if they encountered the same beast. Jesse, who is in a catatonic-like condition, suddenly jumps up and says to Harvey: "He’s going to eat your soul." He tackles Harvey onto the ground and proceeds to choke him until Susie hits him over the head with a tin can.
Back at the Spellman Mortuary, Zelda apologizes to Hilda for being ruthless during Hilda's harrowing. Hilda remarks she was ruthless but accepts her sister's apology. The two then decide to stay up and read.
Prudence, Dorcas, and Agatha take Sabrina to the tree where the Greendale Thirteen was hung. Prudence ask if Sabrina has any last words. Sabrina remarks that the 13 couldn't possibly have imagined a place like the academy. A school where witches would be safe. Even if they could, they'd never believe that the women inside its walls would turn on one another. Which is why Sabrina exclaims that the academy tradition of harrowing ends tonight, but Prudence refuses to stop as she is intent on hanging Sabrina. As Prudence puts the noose around Sabrina's neck and pull on the rope, Quentin and the other victims of the Harrowing arrive and hang the Weird Sisters. Sabrina tells them that there will no longer be any harrowing before having the children release the sisters. Sabrina then warns Prudence against speaking on her parents moving forward.
Harvey, Susie, and Roz decide to go back upstairs to check on Uncle Jesse. They find him unconscious and restrained to the bed. He awakens and stares at them but doesn't utter a word.
Sabrina's induction is over, so she says goodbye to Quentin as she leaves. Nick gives her one of her father's journals that she stole so that she can get to know her father and possibly solve the configuration.
Prudence is called into Father Blackwood's office. He scolds her for being bested by a hedge Witch without any formal education. He tells Prudence that while the Dark Lord wants Sabrina at the academy, he never said she shouldn't suffer while being there.
Madam Satan spies on Sabrina through her mirror. Sabrina talks to Harvey on the phone and they discuss their weekends. Harvey wants to come over but Sabrina tells him that she'll see him tomorrow. Sabrina then turns her attention to the Acheron Configuration, which she manages to solve after having read her father's journal. It opens and red dust spills everywhere. Outside of her room, there is a loud noise and the door to her room bursts open. A demon stands there and slowly approaches. Sabrina screams.
