I am Asmodeus, Lord of Vermin.
— Chapter Twelve: The Epiphany

Asmodeus is a recurring character on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Asmodeus is a demon and one-third of the Plague Kings. They attempted to kill Sabrina in an effort to prevent her from "ascending" in fear of the chaos she engenders. The Plague Kings failed to stop her ascension and were banished back to Hell, where they counseled the Prince of Hell, Caliban, in hopes that he would take the throne. When Caliban is unable to defeat Sabrina in the Unholy Regalia, they are forced to bow down to her as she ascends to Queen of Hell.

The Plague Kings denounce Lilith

In her father's absence, Sabrina has come to declare Lilith the official Queen of Hell, but the Plague Kings object, claiming that Lilith is a concubine, not a queen. The realms are in chaos. The Earth, the Pit, the Heavens, and the Cosmos all reject Lilith's claim. The Plague Kings propose that Caliban, Prince of Hell take the throne. He’s been molded by the clay of the pit itself. Since the Dark Lord’s desertion, the Nine Circles of Hell have been breaking down, and Caliban seeks to restore stability, conquer the earth, remake it as their tenth circle and enslave the tribes of mortals and witch.

Later, Sabrina takes her seat at the throne, but the Plague Kings denounce her as queen as she lives on Earth and is a child. Nevertheless, Sabrina insists that she will rule with Lilith as her regent. As Caliban prepares to challenge Sabrina for the throne, Lilith reminds him that there are rules to be followed, such as him needing a certain number of signatures. Sabrina’s eyes turn white as she warns Caliban to back off. As queen, Sabrina dismisses the Infernal court.[3]

As for pre-existing contracts, Sabrina will decide which they collect on only after viewing each contract on a case-by-case basis. Caliban interrupts to challenge Sabrina for seat on the throne. He’s gathered 666 signatures of the highest born of Hell to endorse his challenge. By infernal law, it must be accepted. Caliban challenges Sabrina on a request for the "Unholy Regalia." They begin with having to find King Herod’s crown.

Asmodeus, Beelzebub, Purson, and the demons of Hell cheer Caliban on as he places King Herod’s crown on his head after winning the first challenge. Sabrina arrives and punches him in the face. He explains didn’t help her because it’s a competition.[5]

When the Plague Kings ask about Caliban, Lilith tells them that Sabrina’s victory over Caliban was absolute, as Sabrina isn’t sure he survived. However, Caliban enters having survived the ordeal. He reminds Sabrina that he’s made of clay and that he waited under the dusts of the ages for 2,000 years after Sabrina cheated, stole Pilate’s bowl and left him for dead. With each having won a single challenge, it’s sudden death. The winner shall reign over Hell for all eternity.[6]

Whoever finds the third, Judas Iscariot's 30 pieces of silver, will sit upon the throne of Hell, and not even Lucifer can interfere with that. Unfortunately, they remind Caliban that there is still much standing in the way of Caliban and the Royal seat, most importantly Lilith and her baby. Caliban refuses to allow Lilith’s bastard child to threaten his claim to the throne, so he and the Plague Kings perform a spell to kill Lilith and her baby. After learning that Lilith has fled to Greendale and given birth under the protection of the Order of Hecate, the Plague Kings head to the Academy of Unseen Arts, where they claim that they’ve come to pay tribute. However, the coven sees past their guise. Asmodeus and Beelzebub refuse to leave without the child, to which Zelda replies that will never happen.
