Amalia was a werewolf and Nicholas Scratch' familiar before she was killed by Sabrina. She was gifted to Nick at birth, and when his family, died, she was all he had left. However, she became increasingly jealous after Nick began attending the Academy of Unseen Arts and started dating. So, he banished her to the Mountains of Madness.

Amalia tracks Nick down to Baxter High's library, where he and Sabrina narrowly escape out the main doors before he seals the doors shut and banishes Amalia.

The following day, Nick sets out to kill Amalia as she had become too dangerous to keep around, or so he told Sabrina when he emerged from the fog filled forest with Amalia's bleeding heart. However, later that night, during the final stage of Lupercalia, Amalia finds Sabrina alone in the woods. Sabrina tries to reassure Amalia that she is no threat to her and that she understands what Nick means to her as the two are family. Amalia calms down. Nick arrives and begs Amalia not to hurt Sabrina, revealing that he loves her, which seems to anger the beast further. Nick tries to banish Amalia, but she attacks him. While she's distracted, Sabrina stabs Amalia from behind with a knife and kills her. Sabrina asks Nick why he did not kill Amalia. Nick explains that Amalia was the only member of his family left after his parents died. Amalia kept him alive, treated him like her own cub. So, he chained her in a cave and killed another wolf in her place.^[1]
