“ | I want to thank everyone for being here on this very special occasion. It's not every night that a mom gets to host the rehearsal dinner for her daughter's wedding to the finest young gentleman in this town, Archie Andrews. Now, I think my husband, Hal, would like to say a few words. Just a few, though. | ” |
Alice Smith is Betty's mother and a Rivervale council member, who takes aim at Veronica's new casino, the Babylonium, referring to it as an abomination and house of sin. It's Alice's persistance that nearly resulted in her being tricked into signing her name and soul over to the Devil.

Rivervale: Sacrifices & Sins[]
A new day in Rivervale. Alice is doing a lot better since Polly's death. She calls Frank over to check on her clogged sink. Inside the drain, he finds a dish rag and suspects she's purposely sabotaging appliances to call him for help. She plays coy and asks if it was chicken bone again this time. With him already over, Alice invites him to stay for breakfast.
Alice, Frank, Toni, and Tabitha lead the town hall meeting at the community center, where Archie gives an update on the town's reforestation plan. Since Cheryl declared Thornhill a sovereign state, they've lost their local supply of maple syrup as well as the revenue it was bringing in, which is why Archie proposes they buy and distribute maple saplings — one per family, to be planted in each family's yard. Archie and his crew will take point in seeding a grove of maple trees that the town will own.
Alice has cooked dinner for Frank. When he prepares to leave, Alice explains that she likes him and wants him to stay the night with her. While Alice's offer is enticing, Frank says that he simply cannot go there with her. Alice blames herself for falling for the strong silent type yet again.
Archie interrupts Cheryl's meeting with the council to confront her for destroying the saplings. However, she denies doing any such thing and reveals that she requested this audience with the council to invite the entire town to Thornhill for the Maple Harvest Festival, which Toni, Tabitha, Frank, and Alice have accepted.
Frank walks Alice home and explains that years ago, when he was a mercenary, he was married and had a daughter. No one knew. Not even Fred or Archie. Because if anyone found out, it would put them at risk, which it eventually did. Frank wants to open himself up to those feelings again, but he doesn't know if he's ready yet. Alice sympathizes and suggests that they simply go to the maple fest together.
At the festival, Cheryl has propositioned Frank and Alice with a chance to be together, unencumbered by the past, but only if they help her return Rivervale to the old ways.
At night, Archie races to Thornhill, where he finds the entire town waiting his arrival. Cheryl explains that it's a ritual. If they want their maple trees to thrive and for Rivervale to have a bountiful year, then a sacrifice has to be made. Betty then reveals that she's pregnant with Archie's child, and in 25 years, he'll be crowned the Maple King, just like his dad. Cheryl explains that Betty isn't the sacrifice, as women must bear children, whereas men's blood is the seed and nourishes the ground. Archie's blood is what will bring the town back to its glory, as he has the distinction of being the town's one true, pure heart. Archie looks to Jughead and Frank for help, but they're both in on it. Veronica then sneaks up behind Archie and knocks him unconscious. Archie awakens tied to a cross with a thorn crown on his head and ruins drawn in blood on his body. Cheryl approaches, stabs Archie, and rips his heart out as a sacrifice to the Maple Maiden.[1]
During her Live News Report, Alice has some harsh opinions about the Babylonium just before opening night, referring to the casino as an abomination and house of sin, which will damn the town of Rivervale.
The next day, Alice receives a visit from Veronica. The businesswoman attempts to ease Alice's concerns, but Alice is certain that her casino will only bring trouble, primarily gamblers, harlots, and whoremongers. However, Veronica assures Alice that her and Reggie's business is entirely legitimate and being run as a corporation, though in actuality, she and Reggie have gone out their way to cheat and break every regulation possible. Despite this, Veronica invites Alice to attend their soft opening to check out the casino for herself.
Alice has accepted Veronica's invitation and arrives at the casino hoping to sniff out any potential evil. Still, Veronica remains hospitable and invites Alice to a seat near the stage.
Veronica calls Alice into her office and reveals that she would like to donate a portion of the casino's weekly earnings to the town, to be allocated at Alice's discretion. She has a direct deposit ready. All that's needed is Alice's signature. Alice is pleasantly surprised and just as she's about to sign the paper, with the Devil's hand inching closer towards her, Veronica has second thoughts on sacrificing her and takes back the contract, telling Alice to leave. However, Alice warns Veronica to get ready for the what's coming next, unaware of how she's just been spared an eternity in hell.[2]
Archie strangely came back to life and he and Betty are going to be married. Alice attends Betty's bachelorette party with Toni, Kevin, Tabitha, Veronica, and Cheryl. Reggie Prime gives them a strip tease at the casino.
Alice hosts Betty and Archie's rehearsal dinner at Pop's and talks about how proud she is of both. Hal, who is alive in Rivervale, also has a few words. Alice jokingly reminds him to keep his speech to a few words, but Hal is interrupted by Toni, who reveals that Cheryl is dead.[3]
