None of the high school couples should get back together. Archie always tried to change himself to fit Veronica’s world even against her wishes and it cost him a prison sentence, physical scarring, being hunted by her father, and being unavailable to Betty in the periods he rediscovered his love for her.
Betty meanwhile tried to change herself to fit Jughead’s world against his wishes and went from being that girl next door with a bit of a dark side to trying to be a biker gang queen and being emotionally tormented repeatedly by serial killers while constantly facing her darkness.
Choni and Kangs were good but now Fangs and Toni are raising a kid together so it makes sense for them to be together and Cheryl just isn’t mentally stable anymore (if ever). Veggie back in season 3 made a lot of sense and Veronica dumping him for Archie was really just a stupid decision on her part.
The couples back then were opposites attract which was fine for high school hormones but in the present as adults:
Veronica and Reggie are on the same life path and are business partners, also Cami and Charles real life relationship gives the actors a chemistry boost in their scenes
Archie and Betty make each other happy and are also on the same life path, also have wanted to be together for years but never found good timing without hurting Veronica and Jughead
Jughead and Tabitha are a perfect fit because of Jughead’s close father-son like relationship with Pop and her personality has her challenging him to improve himself to where he’s smiling constantly now and not brooding
Fangs and Toni are raising a kid together and have been friends since childhood as well
Cheryl and Minerva idk where they’re going with that if anywhere but Cheryl deserves someone to ground her cause rn she’s got a screw loose being manipulated repeatedly by her deranged nana
